How to Hand Pollinate Your Tomato Plant Flowers

The first blooms of my tomato plant did not develop into fruit. I tried using small earbuds to help get them pollinate, but it did not work for me. I tried shaking them too, but I felt it was too traumatic for the plants.



When my tomato plant finally started bearing fruit I knew that hand pollinating worked. I used a small paintbrush to do the trick. I did this everyday late in the afternoon. Here's how I did it -



If you have asthma it's best to wear a mask when you do this because you'll be breathing in the pollen also. It's unavoidable. It's a bit back-breaking work, but worth it when you see your tomato plant start to bear more fruit.
