Sunflowers: We finally re-potted the five stems of sunflower plants. Three out of the five survived the transition. The two that didn't make it were smaller than the three and maybe they were not ready yet to be transplanted to another pot. Oh well, at least we still have three. We've also been battling aphids and have had to squirt the stems with soap water. So far it's been effective, but if the tiny ants don't stop what they're doing we'll bring in the neem oil. The good news is the surviving sunflowers grew a few inches more in the past week.
Mustasa: It seems the re-potting of the sunflowers rubbed off a bit to the other plants. Or it must've been because we had good weather last week. The mustasa plants grew a bit more the past week. We probably need to re-pot the one sharing space with the tomato because it will grow so big. We're just waiting for it to sprout a few more leaves before we transfer it to it's own pot. Growing mustasa has been the easiest so far.
Tomato: We only have one tomato plant for now. It's about six inches tall now. It's more fun to have more tomato plants so we're thinking of burying one or two sliced cherry tomatos to grow more (we have better growth when we plant actual tomatoes than seeds!). Some planning to do here.
Bell Pepper: As expected, the bell pepper is growing so slowly. We noticed a couple of aphids clinging to it the other day. We've included it in our aphids patrol. Our last batch of bell peppers were wiped out because of pesky pests! We're not seeing any new growth, so might probably try to plant more seeds again.
Dill: Ahh, the dill is growing nicely. It's almost 3 inches now. Looking forward to the day we could use it for pickles! And maybe a salad or two. Also coming up with a new name for Mr. Dill.
How's your garden going?
