Ready to Officially Start Season 3 of Our "Home Farm"

Our original plans for this month have been shelved due to the surge of cases. We have decided to just stay home and keep busy with home projects to keep safe. One of the projects we're working on is growing our own vegetables.

Now that we have a bit more space we could work on we ordered seeds online. We got different types of lettuce, cucumber, eggplant, tomato, and a few other seeds we'll plant later on. We thought it best to start with veggies we regularly eat. Our motivation is to have a nice first harvest in six weeks or more.

We did a warm-up by planting some bell pepper seeds before Christmas. We used seeds from grocery bought bell pepper which we used for chorizo pasta. It started sprouting on new year's day. It's been lovely to see it sprout from 4 stems to more than 20 stems now. We post daily status updates about it on Aileen's FB page. You can read here on how we successfully grew bell peppers while we were still in Singapore.

Now that we've warmed up and got some supplies, we started by distributing soil in pots and grow bags. Used up 30 kilograms of loam soil for 2 large pots, 8 small grow bags and a few small plastic pots. Thirty kilograms of soil is not really a lot. We'll probably need to get more soil in a week or two to re-pot whatever grows or maybe we'll consider planting them on ground.

We'll decide what to plant tonight! Woohoo!
