Plantdemic Week 14: Bell Peppers Finally!

We tried to grow multiple pots of bell peppers during our first season. Unfortunately, all our plants died! We're not exactly sure what kind of pest at the plants. They all just died and some even just disappeared! We only had one bell pepper seed sprout this season so we watched the plant like a hawk.

Our biggest challenge the past month is keeping the aphids at bay. Those pests just keep multiplying and we've had to start using neem oil to kill them off. After a huge battle against aphids we noticed that the bell pepper plant suddenly shot up and added a couple of inches in just two weeks. It started forming flowers in hidden areas.

We were not sure whether we should hand pollinate the flowers. We did anyway since we haven't been attracting bees to our balcony lately. Last weekend we finally saw the plant forming fruit! Hooray! We're so excited about this since it's been a huge challenge to keep the plant alive! Yaaaas!

Hoping for a good harvest!
